Karim Harji

Karim Harji believes that all organisations should be accountable for their social and environmental impacts. He is the Programme Director of the Oxford Impact Measurement Programme at the Said Business School, University of Oxford, where he also teaches in the Impact Investing and Impact Finance Innovations executive education courses. He blends practitioner and critical perspectives, drawing on experiences across a range of sectors and regions such as North America, Europe, and Africa.
As Managing Director of Evalysis, he has worked with leading investors, corporates, intermediaries, and ventures to integrate impact considerations across strategy, governance, investments, and reporting. His recent work focuses on promoting impact integrity, innovative structures to incentivize (more) impact, and working with boards and management teams to navigate the complexity of data and decisions.
Karim has been involved in numerous field-building initiatives to promote the value and integrity of impact measurement. He was the Co-Chair of the Impact Measurement Task Force convened by the Government of Ontario; Member of the Impact Measurement Working Group of the G8 Social Impact Investment Task Force; Co-Founder of the Social Impact Measurement TIG at the American Evaluation Association; and a Fellow with the Impact Management Project. Earlier, he taught executive courses in impact measurement and impact investing at the Graduate School of Business, University of Cape Town.
Karim has made influential contributions to advance knowledge and practice in social impact measurement and impact investing. He was previously a co-founder and Director at Purpose Capital (now Rally Assets) – which became Canada’s leading impact investment firm – where he established and led its Advisory practice. He has authored a range of influential reports and practice guides, and co-authored a major global review of the impact investing field commissioned by the Rockefeller Foundation.
He currently serves as an independent NED for the Arisaig Next Generation Fund, a Member of Supervisory Board of Impact-Linked Finance Fund Foundation, and a Board Member at CanadaHelps.
